The USC Women's Rugby shut out Emory University 58-0 on Saturday.
It was the first game of the season within their conference, sporting new jerseys from their new sponsor, National Guard.
"The matrix game is basically a section or game that counts, so when you say that it's basically a divisional game," said one teammate.
They have been training all month, practicing every Tuesday and Thursday night on the fields behind the Strom Thurmond Wellness and Fitness Center.
"It incorporates all the elements of athletics that I've always loved, and a higher level of contact that I always wished was there in other sports I've played, said Kelsey Sharkey, the president of the team.
