USC offense get ready on the line of scrimmage as Spurrier looks on
By: TaNisha Dean
The Wofford Terriers came to William Brice Stadium for the second time in the past three years on Saturday. Once again they gave the Gamecocks all they could handle before USC finally won 27 to 20.
Quaterback Chris Smelley had 204 passing yards, but had a hard time taking care of the ball. The young quaterback fumbled once and threw two interceptions.
The game quickly turned into a running game. South Carolina runningback Brian Maddox led the team with 52 yards. The Gamecocks struggled but good defense and a slightly better running game gave them a win.
The Gamecocks will play again at home Saturday against the University of Alabama - Birmingham.
