The USC baseball team is one of the hottest teams in the country, and they carried that momentum into Wednesday's game with Wofford at Sarge Frye Field.

The Gamecocks had won 10 of 11 heading into the game, and while the team has been hot, first baseman Justin Smoak has been even hotter, tying the school record for home runs in a game last night.

The Goose Creek native has been the catalyst for the Gamecocks in that run, knocking nine home runs, driving in 24 RBIs, and he owns a 16 game hitting streak.

Smoak got things started in the bottom of the first against Wofford with a two-run blast over the right field wall to put USC up 2-0. He followed that up with an even more spectacular homer in the sixth, hitting a grand slam to left-center to extend the lead to 8-0.

Wofford finally broke through in the seventh, but Smoak extinguished any hopes of a Terrier comeback when he drilled his third homer of the game in the eighth to put USC up 10-1.

USC returns to SEC play as they travel to Baton Rouge to take on LSU in a three-game set, beginning on Friday at 8 p.m. (ET)
