Phil Disher's 3 Run-Homer Put the Gamecocks Back on Top

South Carolina's Phil Disher hit a three run-homer in the top of the ninth to break the 2-2 tie and lead the Gamecocks to a 5-3 win over the Furman Paladins. The win was the tenth out of the past 11 games for the Gamecocks .
In the top of the ninth, Gamecock Whit Merrifield was hit by a pitch and Justin Smoak hit a double down the left field line to advance runners to second and third. With only one out, Furman changed pitchers as Gamecock Phil Disher came to bat. Disher hit the first pitch to left center. It was Disher's 14th homer of the season and he now leads the team.
South Carolina finished the night with six hits. Disher led the Gamecocks with two and Justin Smoak extended his hitting streak to 15 games.
South Carolina's record is now 30-11. The Gamecocks hit the field again against Wofford Wednesday night at the Sarge. Gametime is 7:00 p.m.
