Gamecocks Drop 3 In Athens

USC Baseball Loses Momentum USC Baseball Loses Momentum

By Chris Rodgers

USC was fresh off a successful series last weekend against Kentucky when they made the short trip to Georgia to face off against the Bulldogs in a weekend series.  Things slowed to a halt for the Gamecocks in Athens when they lost all three games.

Weather delayed the start as a torrential downpour soaked the city Friday night. Delaying the first game until Saturday afternoon.

The delay appeared to stymie the Gamecocks' momentum as they lost a close one 1-0 to the Dawgs, failing to score with the bases loaded in the 9th.

That seemed to sap USC's energy for the weekend, as the Gamecocks went on to lose 5-3 and 4-2 in the remaining two games.

The sweep drops USC to 5th in the Eastern Division with a 6-6 conference record.

The Gamecocks will try to get back on track when they host Western Carolina on Tuesday and Clemson on Wednesday.

SEC play resumes next weekend at the Gamecocks travel to Auburn for three games.
