Justin Smoak hit a home run to help the Gamecocks beat Davidson.

The Gamecocks scored seven runs in the first inning against Davidson last night at Sarge Frye Field and cruisee to a 9-2 win. Justin Smoak and Phil Disher sealed the game when they hit back-to-back homers in the eighth inning.
The non-conference win improves Carolina's record to 20-7 on the year and drops Davidson to 8-15.
Senior right-hander Sean Widenberg struck out a career-high nine batters, that's a Gamecock record for a single game.
The Gamecocks head to Athens this weekend for a three-game series with the Georgia Bulldogs starting on Friday night.
