South Carolina freshman quarterback Stephen Garcia is in trouble with the law again.
The redshirt freshman was cited for underage drinking on Saturday night, along with offensive lineman Heath Batchelor and quarterback Zac Brindise. The group was caught with coolers of beer outside of their East Quad dormitory.
That was not the last run-in with the law that night for Garcia. The Columbia Fire Department was called to his dorm less than five hours later after reports of a fire extinguisher being discharged. Garcia claimed he saw sparks in his kitchen and used the extinguisher. That incident is still under investigation.
The drinking citation is the third time Garcia has been involved in in trouble with the law since arriving in Columbia last January. The Tampa native had charges of failure to respond to an officer and drunkeness expunged after pre-trial intervention last February. Garcia was also charged with keying a professor's car on campus less than two weeks later. He was suspenced from spring training last year because of those incidents.
USC head coach Steve Spurrier said the fates of all three players will be determined by the university and athletic department, not him.
