The Gamecocks took all three games from Mississippi State with a combined score of 23-5 this weekend. Sunday's win completed the first conference sweep since April 2006 when they beat LSU in all three games in Baton Rouge.
The Gamecocks clinched the series on Saturday 4-1. Justin's Smoak's homerun in the 7th inning started a three run inning. Pitcher Will Atwood only allowed one run in seven innings to pick up his second win of the year.
In Sunday's game, James Darnell and Kyle Enders each had RBI hits to give the Gamecocks 10 runs. It was the 10th time this season that South Carolina scored at least 10 runs in a game.
The team has hit 19 homeruns in 20 games this season. The Gamecocks improve to 15-5 and 4-2 in the SEC.
They will host Furman in the Sarge on Tuesday at 7 PM.
