The sound of customers was non-stop at Rosewood Florist yesterday.
"Valentine's Day is always one of the busiest times," says Ernie Gates, who is retired, but comes to help out when the shop has busy holidays.
Rosewood Florist was swamped with more than 600 deliveries yesterday.
"You have to like it and keep doing it, otherwise it gets overwhelming," Gates said.
Overwhelming can be an understatement for those who don't prepare ahead of time.
"Well, they didn't have the flowers my girlfriend likes...I'm out of luck now," said Lee Clarke, who waited until the last minute.
"I'm going to try a few more places...hopefully I'll luck out."
Yesterday showed good things don't always come to those who wait.
