An 18-year old University of South Carolina freshman has died from injuries suffered in a fall from his fifth floor dorm window October 5th according to a website maintained by his family. Investigators are still trying to find out how Taylor Cothran fell. The Greenville student was was found on the roof of the first floor restaurant at the University of South Carolina's Capstone Dorm.
Cothran had been in intensive care at Palmetto Health Richland.
School officials say it appears to have been an accident when he was in the room alone.
"We are shocked by this terrible event and offer our prayers and thoughts to Taylor, his family and friends," said university President Andrew Sorensen in a news release. "We also offer our support to our students, faculty and staff who would like assistance."
