Journalism Aspiration: Work at ESPN either doing play-by-play in the NFL or production for 30 for 30
One day, when Katie Anger’s mother said to her, “I picture you on the sidelines, in the action, interviewing players and coaches,” a spark ignited. As a person with many interests, Katie struggled for a long time to figure out what career she really wanted to pursue. After that day, Katie knew a career in sports was her calling.
Growing up as an athlete and in a sports-passionate household, Katie quickly became a sports junkie. Her athletic background is what initially led her to Randolph College for two years before she realized what she needed to do to fulfill her career goals. She transferred to USC where her journalism and sports passions flourished. She soon became involved in SGTV’s Capital City Sports, where she first gained on-camera experience covering the university’s sporting events.
Along with SGTV, Katie has also held a print internship at a Maryland-based publication called The Equiery and, most recently, a production internship at Seacrest Studios in Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, NC.
Katie is a true outdoors person: she enjoys hiking, camping, running, and really anything that gets her outside. She is a hard worker who enjoys staying active by playing sports, lifting weights and riding horses. Spending time with family and friends is also very important to Katie.
