Whether it's purple grass on Senate Street or painted sidewalks, the Vista has a new look.

Expect to see more art pop up around the Vista this week from artists across the state of South Carolina. The 10th annual Artista Vista event is back in Columbia to help decorate the city.

This three day event helps artist display local art during a free gallery crawl hosted by the Vista Guild. Spectators are given a map showing them all the galleries participating and street art they can see along the way.

David Yaghjian is an artist from the Midlands area and think this event is a great chance to bring attention to his work.

"Its a great chance for the vista to allow them to go into the galleries," says Yaghjian. "And for the artists to be here and meet the people."

Not only does this affect the artist but also local gallery owners. IF Art Gallery Owner, Wim Roefs says that this event is really good to bring attention to the art in the Vista.

"I think the really good thing about that is exposes all the art in the Vista including my own gallery," says Roefs.

This year there is artwork displayed from approximately 50 different artists.

You still have a chance to see the art, this event will continue through Friday and Saturday.
