The 147th South Carolina State Fair kicked off Wednesday. There is good food and fun rides, but it's the people at the fair who make it memorable.
One woman, Brenda Turner, has worked at the fair for more than two decades. She has been the director of the Arts and Crafts building since 1994.
Turner is in charge of organizing the craft entries competing for the top prizes, including quilts, trinkets and toys. Not every display is competitive though, some just showcase memories.
"People can just reminisce, because it's good memories. I hadn't heard anyone say any bad memories," Brenda smiled.
Why does Brenda Turner spend every October with the fair? The answer is simple.
"I just love it. I love the fair. I guess it's a time, that for a short time everyone can forget all the bad things in the world." she says.
She hopes to share that love for the fair with all those who visit.
You can visit Brenda in the Moore Building at the State Fair today through Sunday, October 23.
