The Columbia Fireflies will open their season April 7 on the road but their home opener is set for April 14. Columbia's new baseball team will debut their new stadium, Spirit Communications Park, which is finishing up construction this week. Visitors were invited to tour the finished parts last week as well as meet players at a Fan Fest April 3.

Spirit Communications Park features a 32 Tap Bar and the Palmetto Pavilion on the main concourse level. The park also features 16 luxury suites on an upper level. Those suites allow visitors to enjoy a mini bar, catering, and a 42 inch T.V.

The park will be used for more than just baseball. It's designed to host football, soccer and baseball games as well as concerts and other events. The park will seat 9,000 people for sporting events and 15,000 people for outdoor events 365 days a year.

"We're very excited, there's energy every single day," says Jamie Tasmin, the Director of Special Events with the Fireflies. "We are working non-stop to make sure it's ready for everyone, and we're so excited for the city of Columbia to see it."

The team will open the season on the road against the Charleston Riverdogs. The home opener will be against the Greenville Drive.
