The party is inside the Russell House ballroom on Greene Street. Students lined up for a late night paint night held by USC's Carolina After Dark at 10:00 P.M. Tuesday.

Carolina After Dark is a unique group that provides alternative night time activities for students free of charge. The goal is to keep students stress free and off the streets of Five Points after the sun goes down. Previous events included an oxygen bar and a dance rave.

Artist Maria Silver led Tuesday's groups in painting. The subject matter: a palmetto tree bathed in the light of a sunset.

Some students followed the instructor, and others decided to paint their own pictures. Nursing major Olivia Laney painted a sunset and says she took some creative license.

"I saw a lot of people relaxing with their friends, taking their minds off their projects and midterms. It was really nice," said Carolina After Dark Coordinator Ashley Harzog.

By the end of the night, masterpieces were painted and the goal of the program was achieved.
