Six Columbia food truck owners joined for a food truck rodeo at the State Farmers Market this weekend. Food trucks normally park in heavily trafficked areas in order to draw customers. This group decided to bring the customers to them.
Food trucks have become very popular in Columbia. Dupre Percival owns one of the trucks.
"It's kind of romantic isn't it? A restaurant on wheels," he said.
Some customers believe visiting a food truck is faster and cheaper than dining at a restaurant.
Food Truck Rodeo at The Market offered a wide variety for customers to choose from. No matter what truck they chose, diners were sure to find fresh produce. All of the vendors pride themselves on exclusively using produce grown in South Carolina.
Truck owners say the event was a success. Not only were they able to find new customers, they were also able to network in the food truck community.
This group of food truck servers are looking forward to the opportunity to work together again in the future.
