Richland County Sheriff's Department offering free car seat checks
Five year old Rosie buckling up

The Richland County Sheriff's Office says four out of five child car seats are installed incorrectly so the department's Community Action Team is offering free car seat inspections to help save lives.
"Those seats are designs in very specific ways to get the seat belt in a proper position where your body can actually help take that impact. If they aren't secured properly they will cause more harm then good," says Sheriff Deputy Lieutenant Danny Brown.
Mary-Ashley and Juan Rodriguez have three kids. They say car safety is a priority and they say they double check to make sure their kids are buckled in correctly before heading out.
Until a child is 80lbs, a seat belt alone is not good enough to keep them safe.
