Journalism aspiration: Sideline reporter for a major network or anchor on a morning talk show
Shante’ Sumpter has dreams of seeing her name in the big lights. Growing up in the small town of Elloree, she always felt like she had a story to tell, but no one to listen. She loves telling stories in front the camera and hopes to one day become a life and style reporter. Her dream is to one day become an anchor on The Today Show.
Shante’ knew she wanted to be a journalist since her junior year of high school. She discovered her desire after hosting her high schools radio show for two years.
Shante’ grew up an only child. She feels that is probably one reason for her big personality. Growing up Shante’ had tons of imaginary friends to talk too. Talking has been her passion since she was old enough to speak, so she’s thrilled to have the opportunity to talk for a living.
Although she is interested in being a life and style reporter, she has the ability to cover stories from the fair to the courtroom. Being a voice for the underdog is the most satisfying aspect of journalism for Shante’.
In her spare time Shante’ enjoys traveling. She most recently studied abroad in Germany. While there she helped produce and write stories that compared German culture to American culture. The experience taught her how to adapt in unfamiliar situations. Now she’s confident that she can take on any challenge thrown her way.
