Journalism aspiration: ESPN Anchor, 30 for 30 Contributor
I am a senior at the University of South Carolina pursuing a degree in broadcast journalism. I am currently a reporter, anchor and producer for Carolina News.
I am an aspiring sports anchor and reporter with plenty of experience in the field. I got my first start as a sports reporter with my school's student media group, Capital City Sports. Since then, I have interned/worked with the University of South Carolina Athletics Department, the ABC Columbia - WOLO sports department, the ESPNU/SEC Network and Comcast SportsNet in Washington D.C.
How I fell in love with sports has little to do with winning and losing. Sports are special to me because they bring people together from all walks of life together with the common goal of working as a unit to achieve greatness. I have met so many great people through my time in sports and have made so many friends and lasting memories. In addition, sports taught me how to prepare for challenges in life and always give my all in everything I do. Lastly, sports were always a way to have fun.
While I aspire to be a sports anchor one day, I also want to tell stories that go beyond the x's and o's. Behind the final score is a story to tell. Sometimes a story of humor, or heartbreak. Adversity or redemption. Whatever it is, sports evoke real human emotion unlike any other scripted television series or drama. I strive to find the best stories and tell them in the most creative, realistic, fun and accurate way I can.
