Rachael was born and raised in San Diego, but knew she wanted to leave California to attend a university with a strong athletics department. She is in her third year of interning with the Gamecock Athletics Department as the Social and Digital Media Intern. She manages and contributes content to Gamecocks Online and individual teams’ Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Vine, YouTube and Snapchat accounts.
Rachael interned with ESPN in Bristol, Conn. in 2015, spending ten weeks as a Production Social Media Intern. She primarily focused on managing ESPN 2 shows’ social media accounts, including “Mike and Mike,” “His and Hers,” “Sports Nation,” and “First Take.” She was the sole Social Producer for several “Mike and Mike” shows, becoming the first intern to ever do so. Rachael also contributed to ESPN sport vertical and SportsCenter social media accounts. She utilized her Photoshop skills to create graphics and content for various ESPN media platforms during the NBA Finals games and the NBA draft.
From a young age, Rachael was comfortable performing and speaking in front of people. She was a National Champion competitive dancer from the ages of five to 14 and a National Champion all-star cheerleader in high school. Her father is a professional water skier, and Rachael has joined the team as the Navigator for numerous races, winning several of them.
Aside from journalism and sports, Rachael is passionate about animals and environmental conservation. She is a regular volunteer with various animal shelters, the Surfrider Foundation, and Chelsea’s Light Foundation.
Rachael’s goal is to work in the sports media industry as a reporter, insider, or anchor.
