By Rose Russo The South Carolina Senate Medical Affair Committee spent a hour questioning Governor Nikki Haley's candidate for Director of the Department of Health and Environmental Control Appointee Eleanor Kitzman Thursday morning. “Mr. Chairman and members of the board. I am truly honored to be here before you…because by all means I was supposed to be a waitress”, said Kitzman. Kitzman's opening statement was anything but short-lived. She took the criticism surrounding her nomination saying she has nothing to hide. Kitzman gave her vision for DHEC and she also opened up talking about her fifteen year relationship with Governor Haley.
Senator Darrell Jackson wasted no time interrogating Kitzman on her political connections and knowledge with the department.
“Governor Haley has given me no marching orders. and no she doesn't need to,"... she said.
Kitzman guaranteed it wouldn't affect her ability to do her job.
"I will run this agency in a professional manner" said Kitzman.
The senators agreed to meet again to properly screen Kitzman.
