The Carolina Panthers surprised an Irmo elementary school at a pep rally to get students pumped up about healthy living. Some Panther players and the Southeastern Dairy Association presented the school a $10,000 grant to promote physical activity and nutrition.

Panthers star linebacker Thomas Davis said he was excited to be there. "We've got kids out here, and we're trying to teach them the importance of eating healthy, being physically active, and going out to do the right things," Davis said. "We're excited to be here today, and hopefully they'll enjoy having us."

The Panthers promoted the Fuel Up to Play 60 program, which encourages kids to exercise daily and eat fruits and vegetables. Dottie Ryan, the spokesperson for the Southeastern Dairy Association, said the program is important for physical health and mental health.

"It's all about empowering kids to make healthy choices and fuel their bodies with nutrient rich foods and being active for at least 60 minutes a day," Ryan said.

The Fuel Up to Play 60 program is the largest nutritional and physical activity program in the southeast.
