The South Carolina state fair will be coming to a close this weekend, but the crowds are still pouring in. Yesterday, hundreds of senior citizens came through the gates.

The day included Spring Valley Baptist Church singing and free ear exams and free hearing aids at the American Association of Retired Persons tent.

Many of the crowd came because of the $3 discount they received. But Norman Ellis, a recent widower, came for another reason.

"I just want to go around and meet people and talk to them, especially those females," Ellis said.

Ellis circled the fair looking for a new lady friend. One of his first stops of the day was the AARP Miracle Ear tent.

"A lady looked in my ear and said it was clean," Ellis said.

Not only did Ellis get his ears checked at the AARP tent. He also wanted to check out the nurses.

"They said they were married. I'm looking for somebody who would like to change their residence," Ellis said.

After leaving the AARP tent, Ellis unfortunatly didn't leave with a new companion. But at least he had clean ears.
