Apple announced the new I-phone 6 a few weeks ago and on Friday it finally went on sale.

Will Simmons was first in line Friday morning at a Verizon store in Columbia and says he has been anticipating this phone all year. "I'm really ready to get home and play with all of the new features", says Simmons.

One new feature that does stand out is the size.

The new phone is visibly larger, catching up to its competitor Samsung.  The phone comes in two sizes, both bigger than any previous i-phone, but it is also thinner.

Verizon store manager Tommy Price says that the competition between Apple and Samsung is closer than people may think.
"It's like Coke-Pepsi or Ford and Chevy", he says.  Price says that the i-phone 6 has been the most anticipated new i-phone debuted.

Apple also launched its newest updated mobile operating system iOS8. Those who do not get the new phone can download the update on their current i-phone.

Apple calls the update the biggest iOS release in Apple history.

The anticipation for Apple's new device was evident. Before the phone was made available to the public there were 4 million pre-orders. By the end of the weekend there were a record number 10 million phones sold.
