Working out no longer has to be a chore! A new Columbia fitness studio is shaping up the idea of fitness and putting a spin on classic workouts to make them more interesting and entertaining.
SWEAT is owned by Gamecock alumnus, Jamie Scott, who strives to see amazing results from each of his clients. His program offers a variety of diverse classes that cater to every customer.
"I just think whenever you walk through the door, there's no way you can come to either one of our studios and experience it and not want to come back," said Scott.
His studio, on the corner of Lady Street and Main Street, specializes in an upbeat spin class. Instructors play house music and flash strobe lights to make the overall experience feel like you are jamming in the club. They offer a spin class to suit any customer's desires with different levels of difficulty.
Scott also runs another studio in the Cross Hill Market behind Whole Foods where he specializes in different types of workouts and personal training, including:
SWEAT customer Ashley Yarbrough says she loves the way she feels after leaving her daily workout classes.
"I like it here just because of the variety. There's bar classes, cycling classes; you can come in for 45 minutes, an hour and get a total body workout and you're done," said Yarbrough.
The SWEAT fitness studios also accept Carolina Cards, making it easy for USC students to participate. SWEAT will soon offer a nutrition plan. Scott hopes to add an eatery where clients can enjoy a workout and leave with a delicious and nutritious meal.
Scott said he hopes to expand into more locations outside of Columbia.
