Geoffery Sandifer, or better known as Chef Geoff, has served two different families for the past three years as executive chef at the Governor's Mansion.
Geoff quit his job last Friday without giving notice or reason. That's left the Mansion hustling to find a way to fill his shoes.
"When I found out Geoff was leaving, I was really, really sad because I liked Geoff and all his food," Gov. Nikki Haley's live-in nanny Amanda Herbst said.
But Sandifer's time in the Mansion wasn't all food and fun. He was heavily fined a few months ago for using the Mansion's Lace House venue for his own catering events.
Authorities say he was using the state's linens, chaffers, pots and pans to cook for his own personal catering business.
Mansion Steward Chamberlain Branch says that the catering scandal is not why Chef Geoff quit his job.
Branch claims it's just because Chef Geoff got the "catering bug", and his friends expect him to put all his efforts into building his new catering business.
