One USC Hotel Restaurant Tourism Management graduate decided he wanted to start a business he knew nothing about.
He went into the frozen yogurt business.
Shafen Khan, the owner and manager of Yoghut on Main Street, didn't know what he wanted to do after he graduated in 2008. Despite the poor economy, he ventured into a business with his father that he didn't know a lot about.
"We figured that we needed to cut our expenses and put it towards business... so it was a big risk we took," Khan said.
He took all of his savings and with the help of his family, invested with his father to start Yoghut from scratch.
"I brought it up to him and he thought it was a good idea.. And it kind of motivated me to make a business plan," Khan said.
Khan is one of the lucky college graduates doing well in this tough economy.
