At Columbia's fourth Beer Festival there were 80 brewers and over 200 types of craft beer.
The fourth annual Columbia Beer Festival provided beer lovers with samples of over two hundred kinds of beers.Tickets were $40 per person. The price of this ticket included samples of beer, local food and live entertainment.
While people were mingling and enjoying the atmosphere, police were more concerned with how the people were planning on getting home.
"We're just trying to keep everybody safe, and deter people from driving after they've had too much to drink," said Sergeant Derek Miller.
Records from the weekend show no DUI arrests, but there were six citations for open containers.
"This weekend we stepped up enforcement in the downtown area to address DUI violations and other traffic violations that occur in the evening time," says Miller.
Many people at the festival had already arranged for cabs and other forms of transportation, but police were not going to take any chances.
Safety checkpoints were set up throughout the city as a precaution.
