I've always been the observer, a person of few spoken words. But what I lack in speaking, I make up for in writing.
My ability and love for carefully describing a situation in ink has guided my path toward journalism.
I stumbled into journalism when I transferred to the University of South Carolina. I was an English major but changed to journalism because I wanted to write, especially about what I saw.
I am 25 and grew up in Southern California. I never participated in newspaper classes and clubs in high school, as so many of my peers have. But each day I have gained more experience through classes and working with the journalism school's magazine, InterCom.
As a child I wanted to be an actress. Acting's appeal coincides with what intrigues me about journalism, the experience of understanding and participating in something outside of yourself.
My curiosity about people's cultures, beliefs, thoughts, and how their experiences have shaped their lives has been a part of me for longer than I can remember. I love to travel to see how people live.
More importantly, I love to write about what I see. Journalism allows you to dive into others' worlds and bring to light their beautiful perspectives with detail-oriented and descriptive tools, which is what I love.
