My cheesy high school nickname, "Scoop," said it all. I was the guy with the goal to know a little about everything.
I carried more steno notebooks than textbooks in my book bag. My friends had loose change for barbeque chips; I had loose Bic pens with ink stains on my pants to match. Instead of bogging down my hard drive with countless downloaded songs, I reserved most of my storage for pictures.
Born and raised in a small town in South Carolina's Pee Dee, I bleed curiosity. I've worked at my local newspaper for the past eight years and have fallen into a deep love for photography. I've had the delight of capturing a wide range of events on film, from basketball players fighting back tears after an agonizing state title loss to Hillary Clinton's firm handshakes during the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination campaign.
A love for sports and cameras recently landed me a photography position at GamecockAnthem.com where I am chronicling what are easily the best athletic years for USC, including baseball national championships, remarkable men's basketball upsets and most recently the first 11-win football team.
And though I no longer have as many ink stains on my pants pockets, I still strive for the scoop.
