USC crowned the 2011 Homecoming Queen and King Tuesday night during the annual Homecoming Showcase at Carolina Coliseum.
Contestants performed in a talent competition, a formal wear segment, and on-stage interviews in front of a large crowd.
The new members of USC royalty are Christina Galardi and Matthew Shannon. Galardi was thrilled to represent Carolina Service Council during Homecoming.
"To my knowledge we've never had anyone in Homecoming Court representing our organization," Galardi said, "I'm looking forward to the parade and the football game. There's going to be some unbelievable experiences."
Matthew Shannon was also thrilled to be able to represent the school during the rest of Homecoming week.
"We have 20,000 undergraduates and I cannot wait to be on the field at halftime for the Florida game when we beat the Gators," Shannon said.
The couple will be on the field at halftime during Saturday's game against Florida and will also be featured in the Homecoming parade Friday at 3:00p.m. through downtown Columbia.
