The Gamecocks pulled out a 14-12 victory against Mississippi State on Saturday but they also suffered a huge loss. Star running back Marcus Lattimore's knee was injured and he's out for the rest of the season.
Lattimore was taken down by a Bulldog defender while trying to block for Bruce Ellington in the fourth quarter.
Trainers tended to Lattimore, who walked off the field on his own. Moments later Lattimore, joined by his mother, walked towards the locker room on crutches with his left leg in a cast.
Gamecock head coach Steve Spurrier announced Sunday that Lattimore suffered torn ligaments and damaged cartilage in his left knee.
The injury will require surgery, which marks the end of the season for Marcus Lattimore.
He finishes the season with over 800 yards and 10 rushing touchdowns.
