Checker Cab has been contracted by Student Government to be the provider of Carolina Cab

The Carolina Cab service made its maiden voyage from Five Points last Thursday night.
USC's Student Government had an idea for a more reliable alternative to the previous late night service, Cocky's Caravan, and Carolina Cab was born.
Instead of running a shuttle to and from Five Points, the switch was made to taxis.
"Having this taxi service and having this taxi waiting for them at the five points area it's so quick, it's convenient and the students already know how to use it" Student Body Vice President Katie Thompson says.
She also believes the service can potentially save the university thousands of dollars over the next few years.
Checker Yellow Cab contracted with Student Government to provide the service Thursday through Saturday nights.
All students have to do is find the Checker Yellow Cab, show their student ID and the driver will take them anywhere in five-mile radius from Five Points for free.
One USC student, who refused to give her name, believes the service is a great idea.
"I think it's awesome, I'm so glad we have it. Cocky's Caravan used to take like 30 to 45 minutes to get here so it's nice to have something that's like right here," she said.
No numbers are available but student government thinks Carolina Cab had a successful first weekend, and it looks like the service might be here to stay.
