The South Carolina Women's soccer team shut out the Mississippi State Bulldogs 7 to 0 in an SEC showdown on Sunday.  South Carolina senior forward Brooke Jacobs tied the USC record for points in a single game in the Gamecock shut-out.

Jacobs got the sixth hat trick in Gamecock history with three goals in 14 minutes and an assist on the game-winning goal.  But Jacobs says this scoring trend hasn't always been this strong.

"We did struggle in the beginning, to get our chances in, we had our chances but we just couldn't score," Jacobs said. "And then as soon as we started we've just continued, and we know that we can score now and we've just continued to do that."

South Carolina head coach Shelley Smith said this win, along with other recent wins, has given the Lady Gamecocks confidence.

This win improves South Carolina's record to 9-2-2 overall and 3-0-1 in the SEC.

The Gamecocks will play two SEC away games over the weekend, at Auburn and Alabama.
