Facebook claims it now has over 50 million members. Some businesses see the site as an effective way to promote their products and services.
"Everyone has a Facebook, so if businesses are looking to reach out, I think that Facebook is an excellent way," said USC student Alexandria Cherry, "It's one of the best opportunities to reach a large group of people."
Moe's Southwest Grill in Columbia is taking advantage of Facebook to reach more USC students. Moe's owners promise that if 7,000 students sign on to "like" their page by the end of September, they will give away free burritos on October 6.
"We feel like it's a great way to sort of get people connected to us to know what we're doing as a brand. What we're doing locally, and it's great. You can update it everyday," said Matthew Saxon who manages Moe's Main Street location.
Saxon says the Facebook page is also used to get out the word about other promotions, such as discounts for military personnel and free meals for kids on Tuesday.
Moe's Columbia still need 1,500 more fans to reach their goal next week. If you would like to become a fan of their page click here.
