Community Service is not always something that someone is forced to do for being in trouble. Some people give their time to help "just because."
The University of South Carolina held its annual Service Opportunity Fair on Greene Street in front of the Russell House on September 15th. Students, faculty, and staff gave back to the community helping 40 non-profit agencies.
"We could not survive without the volunteers," Dana Smith of Hope Worldwide said.
Past participants of the fair have included the American Red Cross of SC/USC Red Cross Club, Boys and Girls Clubs of the Midlands, Salvation Army, and United Way of the Midlands among others.
No matter the type of service, volunteers felt welcome.
"There's something out here for everybody, honestly," said Hospice employee Lisa Truett.
