The Gamecocks baseball team defeated Mississippi State 14-2 Sunday, taking two of three in the team's third SEC series of the season.
USC (22-6, 7-2) put up a total of nine runs in the third and fourth innings, and starter Matt Price pitched five scoreless innings in relief, earning his third win of the year.
Mississippi State (15-13, 3-6) starter Tyler Whitney lasted until the third inning giving up five runs on two hits and five walks.
The Gamecocks took the first game of the series 10-2 Friday, but came up short with a late rally Saturday, losing 8-7.
USC moves into a tie for first place with LSU an SEC record of 7-2.
Mississippi State has dropped their past five series in Columbia.
The Gamecocks will take the field Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. hosting the College of Charleston.
