They call it Two Brothers Foundation, and planting gardens full of hope is what they do.

"We thought we would do our own part and help the people in Columbia," said Zach Mahaffey.

Zach and his older brother Jon are trying to help the hungry by planting vegetable gardens in Columbia backyards.  The gardens are planted by the brothers and the people bring it to life.  The vegetables that are harvested in those gardens will be donated to local food banks around Columbia.

The Mahaffey brothers are originally from Winston-Salem, NC but moved to Columbia to attend the University of South Carolina.  Jon is a USC alum and  Zack is a junior at USC.   They believe their gardens go beyond donating canned goods to a food drive.  With their foundation you are growing food for others, at no cost to you.

"You feel a part of it as well, definitely feel more involved," said Jon Mahaffey.

The brothers just broke ground on their second garden, but they hope to till up many more Columbia backyards to help the hungry.
