Hundreds of passengers arrived at the Columbia Metropolitan Airport on Tuesday to find their flights were canceled.  All flights to and from the Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta were canceled due to the second snowstorm the Southeast has seen this year.

"Atlanta doesn't know how to handle snow, that's the problem.  If they get the slightest wintry mix as they call it, they can't deal with it," said passenger Paul Ironmonger.

Ironmonger and many other passengers opted to rent cars instead.

"My husband has a flight to New York this evening, my kids are at school and we don't have family in Atlanta," said passenger Jennifer Gray.

The line at the Hertz rental desk was backed up with anxious passengers waiting for transportation.  Many people completely rerouted their trips in order to make it home safely.  But some passengers didn't mind the inconvenience.

"I'd prefer to be safe rather than messy.  If they're canceling it they're doing it for a good reason," said one passenger.

The snow let up early Wednesday morning and there are currently no delays or cancellations coming to and from Atlanta.

Airport officials say to always call ahead in the event of wintry weather.  Or you can check the Federal Aviation Administration web site for weather conditions and delays at any airport in the U.S.
