University of South Carolina men's tennis coach Kent DeMars will be retiring after this season. Demars had been coaching the USC tennis team for 26 years. His teams have posted an overall record of 381 wins to 278 losses.
Demars has lead the Gamecocks to the NCAA Tournament 18 times and won six conference championships. He has coached more than 57 All-Americans, an Olympic Gold Medalist Doubles team, as well as former Wimbledon, French Open, U.S. Open and Davis Cup Champions.
Demars was selected as the National Coach of the Year in 1989 and has collected Region II Coach of the Year honors seven. times.
The University Athletics department is planning a celebration of DeMars' Career at the end of the season.
