The USC women's soccer team has broken into the Sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history. They will face Wake Forest on Friday with hopes of beating them and entering the Elite 8.
The Gamecocks (19-3-2) have already beaten the Demon Deacons (15-5-2) at Winston-Salem earlier this season by 5-0.
The first three rounds of the playoffs are in Columbia, the third year in a row USC has been awarded home field advantage in the first rounds. This year, the Lady Gamecocks are the #2 seed. Wake Forest is #3.
The Gamecocks beat Davidson 4-0 in the first game of the playoffs on Saturday. Then, they defeated Rutgers 1-0 on Sunday's match.
Since the start of the 2007 season, the Gamecocks have posted a 3-1-2 record against ACC teams. The one loss came against Clemson in 2007.
The game will start at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 20th at USC's Stone Stadium.
