Gamecocks Can't Quite Complete Comeback Against Georgia

The 21st ranked University of Georgia Bulldogs held off a second-half surge to beat South Carolina 41-37 Saturday night in Athens. 

South Carolina quaterback Stephen Garcia completed 31 passes in 53 attempts with one interception.  In all South Carolina's offense racked up 437 yards tottal offense in the game while the defense held Georgia to 308 yards.

South Carolina trailed 31 to 27at the half but came back with help from interception from linebacker Eric Norwood who returned it 35 yards for a touchdown.  The extra point blocked, and Georgia would drive the ball back down field to tack on another 3 points putting them up 41-37.

South Carolina had a chance to win the game as the clock ticked down.  Facing fourth down on the Georgia seven yard line, a Garcia pass was tipped by Georgia defenders and fell incomplete to give the Bulldogs the SEC win.
