More women are looking for work in strip clubs because of the nation's economic problems and tight job market. Gentlemen's clubs in Rhode Island held a job fair in March looking for waitresses, bartenders... and strippers, and the jobs were quickly filled.
With South Carolina's unemployment rate the 3rd highest in the nation at 11.4 percent, the Palmetto State's clubs are also seeing more women apply for jobs.
Bartender at Santerro Shaquania Donaldson says she couldn't find anywhere else that was hiring.
"I'm just a college student. So I was just going to school and I was just so tired of being broke and with economy being so bad its so hard to find another job so I was like why not go bartend." Donaldson says. "I don't like working her, I only work here cuz I need money so bad,".
A woman known only as Krystal has been dancing at Savannah's since October of 2008 and admits that she is drawn to the money it brings in.
"An average night about four to $500 a night on a good night I make anywhere from seven (hundred) to two thousand," says Krystal.
Rick runs San Terros and says there has been an increase in the number of strippers but the cliental has dropped.
"Women in this type of business survive on the men spending money so if the economy's bad the guys are not getting that extra activity money to do this type of stuff then it tightens up, " says Rick.
Women like Krystal and Shaquania like the quick money and convienient hours and will continue to work in these harsh economic times.
