Clemson finally got the best of South Carolina in Wednesday night's 7-5 win at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. The Gamecocks had won the last six games in a row over Clemson, including a win over the weekend.
The Tigers built a three run lead going into the ninth inning, keeping the Gamecocks from mounting another come from behind victory like they did on Saturday in Columbia when they won with a 9th inning rally.
A pinch hit by Chris Epps in the fifth inning gave Clemson the lead for good.
Clemson closed the game with a strong relief effort. Meanwhile, Gamecock relievers gave up five runs, hits, and walks. They also hit two batters.
The two teams will meet again April 22nd in the season's three-game series finale.
