The Gamecocks went into the National Invitation Tournament looking for a third championship in five years.  Stephan Curry and the Davidson Wildcats quickly shut down that dream knocking the Gamecocks out of the first round of the NIT.

At one point the Gamecocks were down by nearly 20-points but battled back after the break.  In the second, half USC took a narrow lead but couldn't hold on as Davidson won 70-63, advancing to the second round of the tournament.

First year Coach Darrin Horn led the Gamecocks to a 21-9 record, barely falling short of a NCAA Tournament invite.  Despite getting knocked out in the first round of the NIT Gamecock basketball has greatly improved.

Coach Horn introduced the Garnet Army, a student based fan group that dons garnet and black camouflage to home games.  Since Horn took the helm at USC, attendance has skyrocketed and Gamecock basketball has become more popular.
